Tron: Ares, Featuring Music by Nine Inch Nails

Fans have been wondering who would be doing the soundtrack responsibilities ever since it was revealed that Disney was returning to The Grid for more Tron. A standout feature of Tron: Legacy (2010) was its exceptional soundtrack, composed by the legendary French dance group Daft Punk. However, with their dissolution several years prior, there was never a guarantee that the group would reunite for Joachim Rønning’s next Tron: Ares. But now that we know for sure who’s scheduled, it’s an especially thrilling answer.

The soundtrack for Ares will be composed by none other than Nine Inch Nails, the industrial legends renowned for fusing rock with ear-rattling electronic production, as was announced at Disney’s D23 Expo. Okay, so ideal for a Tron movie.

Not only does Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross of Nine Inch Nails’ music seem like a perfect fit for Tron, particularly with regard to the dystopian idea of Jared Leto’s synthesised title character leaving virtual reality behind and trying to take over our world, but the band has a history of scoring Hollywood soundtracks, frequently with remarkable results. October 2025 is when we’ll find out exactly what they’re cooking up for this one. To give you a DIY sneak peek, we’re off to sync the Challengers score to a lightcycle race in the interim.
